How Much Is That Doggy in the Waiting Room?

On an unspecified date (meaning I have since forgotten) I was confronted with a strange hallucination as I sat in a doctor’s waiting room. Two people (apparently related) took their seats, accompanied by a small dog. When the man’s name was called, both people went into the exam area, leaving the dog alone in the chair in which it had been placed.
As I watched, the dog bolted for the door, exiting to the street outside. I was concerned the dog would be lost or harmed, so I went to the receptionist and told her about the dog that had run out. She stared at me, as if to ask “what dog?” Similarly, I noticed the same types of expression on the faces of the other waiting patients. Clearly there had been no dog present at any point (as if animals in general would be allowed into the waiting area in the first place).
I would also note that of late I’ve been experiencing an increased number and frequency of auditory hallucinations, a type I generally don’t take note of, partially because they’re relatively unremarkable in comparison to visual experiences.'
